History
Salmon Run Mall was opened in 1986 to the members of the public. One of the initial stores was a branch for regional Chappell’s, which was closed in 1993 when the chain was declared bankruptcy. It was then, refurbished the same year and became the Bon-Ton.
Additionally, an anchor store that was constructed in the mid-1990s was Montgomery Ward, which was closed and converted to Burlington in 2001. On January 31, 2018, it was reported that regional division Bon-Ton would shutter as part of a bankruptcy. Possible replacement tenants have been talked about since 2019.

Salmon Run Mall is the premier shopping and entertainment destination of the North Country. The center is situated at the northwest intersection of Interstate 81 and NYS Rte. 3, the busiest intersection in the tri-county market. Salmon Run Mall has over 80 retail shops, a full-service sit-down restaurant, a food court, and a 12-screen stadium seat theater.
The center is anchored by Burlington, JC Penney with Sephora Inside, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Gander Outdoors, Sears, Best Buy, Christmas Tree Shops & That, and DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse. Salmon Run is located just minutes away from the Thousand Islands Bridge via I-81 and 8 miles from the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum.

This mall offers travelers going to the south a stopover for lunch at the Wendy’s in the mall. You can also buy a Christmas tree at Christmas Tree Shops and browse what is situated at the mall. In this day and age, this mall seems to be hanging in there with most of the names you recognize in most malls being here without empty storefronts. Their anchors are J. C. Penney, Burlington, Dick’s, and Best Buy.
Buy your choice type of shoes at DSW had quite a good selection and she found what she needed. The mall has lost anchor stores but still has quite a good selection of shops to choose from.
The mall also offers an easy and convenient way when heading to the city, right off 81. Mainly go for the movie theater and Dick’s Sporting goods. This mall has a lot to see and do. There are a good variety of stores and not too bad prices. The Salmon Mall offers different items and apparel, is very clean, and has a pleasant shopping experience.
There are several food courts in the mall. Driveway in the back to find Tesla Charging station. Enter through Dick’s or the next store to eat at the Food Court while your car charges.
Stores are average to standard Mall- clean, bright. You can also visit the mall for the luxury of shopping for different items that we have in Canada. Dicks Sports was super again. Picked up a couple of half-price shoes New Balance and ASICS. Awesome. Worth the visit.
Enjoy this nice visit to the mall that is at least busy. This mall has a few stores that are closing but the main stores are still there. In the middle of the day on a weekday maybe it would seem to be thriving with quite a few people there shopping and eating at the nice food court.
Events
Blood Drive
Salmon Run Mall will host a community blood drive with the American Red Cross on Thursday, June 16th beginning at 1 p.m. at the Hobby Lobby end of the mall. Blood is routinely transfused to patients with cancer and other diseases, premature babies, organ transplant recipients, and trauma victims, according to the Red Cross.
Hosting a blood drive coincides with Salmon Run Mall’s core values of giving back to the community. With a simple blood donation, the mall can help save the life of someone who could be a coworker, loved one, or neighbor. The short amount of time it takes to donate can mean a lifetime to a patient with a serious medical condition. This is a selfless act of giving blood for free.
Donors of all blood types are needed, especially those with types O negative, B negative, and A negative. According to the Red Cross, type O negative is the universal blood type that can be safely transfused to anyone and is often used to treat trauma patients. Join the mall as they carry out this very noble act to save the community and their people at large.
