Knox Farm State Park, a 633-acre park located in Erie County New York, USA, is adjacent to East Aurora. It was originally the country of the Knox Family from Buffalo. It can be found at 437 Buffalo Road, East Aurora, New York 14052.
The park covers 633 acres and includes different habitats such as 400 acres of pastures and hayfields and 100 acres of wooded areas, ponds, or other wetland areas.
Knox Farm State Park: Things to Do
Knox Farm guests can observe wildlife, ride horses, and cross-country ski, as well as enjoy stunning scenic nature trails. The Buffalo Audubon Society and New York Audubon have partnered to offer Nature walks. State park naturalists also offer programs. The Knox Farm Visitor Center features exhibits that highlight natural and historic interests. If you are able to obtain a permit, you can also bike in designated areas. You can also drive and horseback ride in certain areas.
Equestrian Permits, filming or any other special use require a permit. Knox Farm State Park also houses the Native Landscape Resource Center. This resource center is unique in New York State Parks.
Plant nursery
The NLRC is a local nursery that grows plants for landscaping and habitat restoration. The plants are used to assist the Western District of New York State Parks. They adhere to the Parks’ Native Plant Policy. To preserve and increase genetic variability within each species, trees, shrubs and forbs are essentially grown from locally collected seeds.
Dog parks
Knox Farm State Park is also home to a dog park, which is well-known for its four-legged guests. The park covers approximately 6 acres. It is divided into two sections. There are large dogs on one side, and smaller dogs on the other. Each section has water spigots nearby for filling pet buckets or bowls.
Pet insurance
You can only bring two pets to Knox Farm State Park for single-day use unless otherwise stated. Pets must be kept on a leash and crated no longer than 6 feet in length. The park staff must request proof of vaccination against Rabies. Pets are not permitted in playgrounds, buildings or on boardwalks. This does not apply to service animals.

Knox Farm State Park Animals
Within the park is located The Knox Farm. There are many farm animals, including horses, sheep and goats, Llamas, chickens, and other farm animals. Visitors can hike and cross-country ski along many nature trails. However, it is not permitted to bike in certain areas.
Knox Farm State Park Ownership
The New York State purchased Knox Farm State Park in July 2000. This is the newest park among the 17 state parks in Niagara Region.
How did the Knox family make it big?
Seymour Horace Knox 1, who lived from April 1861 until May 1915 in Buffalo, New York, was a businessman. His money was made in five-and-dime shops. He merged with Charles Woolworth and Frank Winfield Woolworth, his cousin’s first cousins. This merger gave rise to the F. W Woolworth Company.
Construction of Knox Farm
Knox Farm was built between 1854 and 1856 on an area of 890 acres, which is equal to 360 hectares. Jams Graham constructed it and used the Greek Revival architectural style.
Membership
It is vital that the Friends Group receives public support. Friends is a membership-driven organization. Friends encourage people who aren’t members to join the organization and participate in their activities in place of the park.
To help expand this noble cause, the organization needs financial funds and donations. Fans can join the Friends’ group or send their donations via a form on their website.
Individual membership fees are $25, $40, for a family, $20, for seniors, $20, for students, $100 for partners, $300, Premium, $500, Patron, $250, and $250 respectively for business.
The park will list all the logos of the Business Members as well as a link back to their websites.
Knox Farm State Park Events
Friends of Knox invite you to join them at the 5th Annual Bark Bash. All pets, including dogs, must be well-mannered and inoculated. You can also host private parties, corporate events, fundraisers, and weddings in the park from May through October. The park is closed during the winter months.
The Knox Farm State Park Mansion is the perfect setting for your dream wedding. You can host a fun and colorful party in the garden or have a grand affair with all the trimmings. Wedding parties can make use of the Mansion’s immediate grounds and have exclusive access to it. Both these are available for the ceremony as well as the reception. One wedding reception is allowed per weekend. The day for setup and rehearsals is the day before.
Service providers
The park has compiled a list of service providers that can be used for special events. Any service provider that is not on the list must be approved by the Mansion Manager.
Friends of Knox Farm State Park is a non-profit organization. All donations and funds from the Mansion’s rentals are used to preserve and renovate the park.
