Fulton Speedway New York

Location

Fulton Speedway is a three-eighth-mile high bank. It is a dirt oval-shaped raceway in Volney, New York, United States of America. The track was constructed into a hilly section on the edge of the Oswego River in a natural bowl. It seats at the top above the track, on a hill. It is at 1603 County Route 57, Fulton, New York 13069.

History

In its long heritage, Fulton Speedway has been both an asphalt and clay race track. This magnificent high bank was founded by Millard “Bub” Benway and his brother Ray. They used their construction business, Benway Bros. Construction, to construct a third-mile paved oval. They used the name Mil-Ray Raceway.

The initial event in the raceway was ushered in on June 24th, 1961, and an eighth-mile dragstrip started functioning on July 15th, 1962 and ran for ten years. There was a weekly program until 1978. The track was reopened as a three-eighth dirt oval in 1979.

In July 1998, Harvey, Joan, and David Fink bought the track. Since 2009, the track, as well as the Brewerton Speedway, has been under the ownership of John and Laura Wight. The Wights initially were the owners of the Can-Am Speedway.
